Vintage Shobido Obi-dome (Kimono Sash Ornament) - Six Gourds, Chokin (Metal Engraving), with Paulownia Box and Obi-jime (Sash Cord)
This is a product from Shobido, a long-established store in Osaka.
The Roku-hyotan (six gourds) design, where six gourds nestle together, is beloved as a very auspicious symbol, playing on the Japanese words for six gourds (roppyō) and no illness (mubyō), wishing for good health and freedom from illness.
The contrast in the metallic textures is exceptionally beautiful, exuding an elegance befitting a craftwork.
A modern obijime (sash cord) is also included.
As this is an antique item, there are signs of age such as dirt and scratches.
Please check the photos and purchase with your understanding.
Thank you for looking.
