??Characteristics??
1. This variety has been developed as the first large-podded, white-haired, mid-late maturing type.
2. Harvest is possible approximately 100 days after sowing.
3. The pods are large, about 2cm wide and 7cm long, with white hairs, offering a substantial size. They have excellent marketability, with dark green pods that are rich in flavor and sweetness, making them top-notch in taste.
4. Each plant produces around 70 pods, resulting in exceptional yield.
??Notes on Cultivating Hiden Edamame??
★Sowing is generally done from early June, with maturity and harvest from late October onwards.
*Avoid early sowing as much as possible, as it can easily lead to tsuru-boke (excessive vine growth without pod development). Seeds I sowed in April were harvested in early September. Seeds sown in August were harvested in early November.
★Soybeans have early-maturing varieties that flower based on growth and late-maturing varieties that flower in response to shorter day lengths. Hiden Edamame is a mid-to-late maturing variety, so it cannot flower until the ratio of daylight to nighttime becomes significantly shorter. Flower buds formed after the summer solstice become effective and bear fruit.
Soybeans are relatively easy to cultivate if you avoid consecutive cropping and ensure good drainage. Of course, they can also be grown in planters. Fill planters with soil for vegetables and sow seeds about 15cm apart, similar to planting in a field. Sow 3-4 seeds per spot. Water only when the soil is dry until the sprouts emerge. Thin the seedlings once they have sprouted. If you wish to start cultivation from seedlings, choose vigorous seedlings with thick stems and dark green leaves. Dig a hole about the same size as the seedling's root ball, transplant the seedling, cover the base with soil, and water thoroughly until water drains from the bottom. After transplanting, the cultivation method is largely the same as the basic method. However, in planters, the soil depth is limited, so pay attention to how quickly the soil dries out and do not neglect watering. As the plants grow, the leaves will become dense and prone to falling over, so support them with stakes or tape.
For spring sowing, in planters, provide shade at 5 PM. This artificially adjusts the day length.
Sowing in summer leads to rapid growth, so you should be able to achieve a good harvest.
