The sight of its slender leaves swaying in the wind is very atmospheric and charming. It is also recommended for ground cover, potted plants, and mixed plantings. It has been used in Japanese gardens since ancient times. In China, it is used as a traditional medicine for pain relief, sedation, and to improve stomach ailments, epilepsy, and rheumatism. It is a very robust plant, so it can be grown anywhere and is an easy variety to care for. In winter, the above-ground parts may wilt due to the cold, but new shoots will emerge from the base in spring.

With a plant height of around 30cm, it will grow to cover the ground completely in a few years, creating a beautiful sight and also providing weed suppression. In shaded areas, its yellow color brightens the space. It shows its beautiful color in partial shade or under trees.
In sunny or dry locations, the color fades.

It is also useful for mixed plantings, adding a sense of spaciousness with its free-flowing lines.

★ How to Grow Sekisho

As it belongs to the Acorus genus, it seems to prefer moist locations. It is extremely robust and requires no special care.
It has strong shade tolerance and grows well in shady conditions.

It can be propagated by division in autumn or spring. It multiplies abundantly.

If you divide and plant it in a field, it will multiply significantly within a year.
