The new material Arcel? disperses weight concentrated on the lower back.
Until now, mattresses for back pain relief were typically thick and heavy.
In contrast, this product is only 4 cm thick and weighs 2.5 kg, yet it has a firm elasticity that prevents sinking in the lower back. It is popular for providing a feeling of being firmly supported from below throughout the night, and more people with back pain are ordering it.
The firm elasticity is created by Arcel?, a new accordion-like material from Teijin Frontier (founded in 1869). By densely packing it as filling, it enhances body pressure dispersion.
The lower back area, where weight tends to concentrate, is reinforced by heat-compressing 1 cm thick Arcel? to 3 mm, further increasing its density. This ensures that even heavier individuals' lower backs are well supported.
At only 2.5 kg, it weighs about half of a regular cotton futon (4.5-6.3 kg, according to a survey by 10 editors), making it much easier to lift and put down.
