[Good fortune comes to smiling bamboo]
It is said that good fortune comes to those who smile, and the character for smile (笑) contains the character for bamboo (竹). When the bamboo nodes are cut diagonally, they resemble a smiling face.
These are smiling bamboo pieces, considered auspicious for welcoming the Toshigami (New Year's deity) with a smile.
The bamboo has been washed and dried, but as it is a natural product, there may be scratches or dirt. We appreciate your understanding.
As this is natural bamboo, the color will vary from piece to piece.
Please also be careful of splinters on the cut surfaces.
