The REX chair was designed with functionality and the comfort of the sitter in mind.
This long-selling model was released in 1952 by Slovenian designer Niko Kralj.
It has also been selected for the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
In the 1950s, Slovenia, like Japan today, had smaller homes and a living environment where large furniture was difficult to place. The REX chair was created as a chair that could provide beautiful design and comfortable seating even in such an environment.
By gently bending plywood, the back and seat are shaped to fit the body, and the structure is designed to be compact when folded.
Transcending time and borders, this design fits perfectly into modern Japan as well.
