Hand-painted carved boat by a wood craftsman, featuring Kirin Lemon and Kirin Beer designs.

This is a one-of-a-kind vintage board art piece with a retro feel from the early Showa period, handcrafted by a woodworker. It features a hand-colored woodblock print of a Kirin Lemon poster.

This retro wooden sign board is a reproduction of an early advertisement poster for Kirin Lemon, which was released in 1928 (Showa 3). The wood art beautifully expresses the poster, created on a single board during the Taisho to early Showa era, with its delicate and soft colors.

The design, by Hokuh TADA, boldly and three-dimensionally arranges figures and the product. The center features the Kirin Beer symbol: the crest of the sacred beast Kirin. It is said that the design of the pattern was done by the lacquer artist Shisui ROKKAKU.

The illustration of a woman in a hat and the unique font elegantly convey the cutting-edge fashion and modern atmosphere of the Taisho to early Showa period with sophisticated impact.

Kirin Lemon was born as the first soft drink of the Kirin brand, with product development driven by a commitment to colorlessness.

Retro signs are popular for interior decoration in spaces where an antique atmosphere is desired. While original posters are traded at high prices among collectors, and reproduced woodblock prints and tin signs are also popular, this wooden art piece is rare. Purchased at a gallery in Nagano Prefecture over 20 years ago.

Active from the Taisho to early Showa periods. He created many advertising posters for Kirin Beer, including numerous works depicting Kirin Lemon. He began working on Kirin Beer posters around 1920 (Taisho 9), and after the launch of Kirin Lemon in 1928, he also created advertisements that depicted beer and soft drinks together. A representative work is Kirin Beer and Kirin Lemon in a Basket, created in 1938 (Showa 13).

Unlike traditional advertisements that prioritized beauty portraits, he established a modern layout that made the product the main focus. He skillfully combined figures such as women and children with the product, creating a sophisticated style that reflected the trends of the time.
