Vintage 1964 Dakin Dream Pets Pierre Porpoise #345 Sawdust Stuffed Japan Toy

Vintage R. Dakin & Co. Dream Pets Pierre Porpoise #345, a mid-century character dating to the 1960s. Pierre features a black velveteen body with a bright red-and-black striped underside, applied felt facial details, jaunty red hat and his original smoking pipe. Unlike modern plush animals, early Dream Pets were firmly stuffed, giving Pierre his distinctive dense shape and feel. The U.S. Copyright Office records Pierre Porpoise as Dream Pets No. 345, copyrighted by R. Dakin & Co.-Importers on January 15, 1964. Measures approximately 5 inches long and 5 inches tall. He is in excellent vintage condition overall. His body remains firm and well formed, and his pipe, hat and appliqué details are intact. There is some deterioration to the ribbon trim around the hat, and only a small remnant remains of the original cloth tag.
