Yatagarasu Amulet
Yatagarasu is a three-legged crow, a messenger of the gods. According to a legend where it guided Emperor Jinmu to Kashihara in Yamato (present-day Nara Prefecture), it has been revered as a divine being with the power of guidance. Today, it is also famous as the emblem of the Japan Football Association (JFA). It is likely imbued with the wish for the ball to be guided well into the goal.
Soccer and Yatagarasu
As you all know, the emblem of the Japan Football Association (JFA) is Yatagarasu.
Following the legend of Emperor Jinmu, it is believed to be imbued with the wish for the ball to be guided well into the goal. Even now, JFA officials and Japanese national soccer players visit the shrine to pray for victory.
